Q&A

Can I get involved in undergraduate research?

The RISE Lab team includes undergraduate researchers from engineering, social sciences, computer science, math, and other majors. Undergraduate research projects are occasionally posted to the Maryland Student Researcher Database. However, there are certainly other opportunities available. If you are interested in undergraduate research, please stop by Dr. Bensi’s office hours.

I’m interested in joining the RISE Lab as a graduate student researcher. Do you have any funded graduate research assistant positions open? Will you review my CV and let me know if a position is available?

Student interest and enthusiasm are appreciated. However, Dr. Bensi receives many general, non-targeted emails regarding graduate positions. As a result, she typically does not review materials or make decisions in response to email inquiries.

In general, the availability of supported research positions depends on the availability of external funding.  External agencies make funding decisions throughout the year. As a result, it is not always possible to know when positions will become available.

If you plan to submit an application, you are encouraged to explore our department and graduate school websites to ensure your application meets requirements and to find a research/study area that suits your individual interests:
