Emily

Emily Gibson, PE is a practicing geotechnical engineer with a focus in seismic hazard analysis and is pursuing her doctorate part-time. Her work experience includes dam rehabilitation and design as well as safety oversight for the nuclear industry. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Virginia and completed master’s degrees in geotechnical engineering at the University of California-Berkeley and reliability engineering at the University of Maryland-College Park. Her current research pursuits include spatial correlation of ground motion prediction errors in the Central and Eastern United States and the use of Bayesian Networks to model seismic risk at multiple dam sites.
