Alexia Hernandez is an undergraduate senior at the University of Maryland, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. She is minoring in both Geographic Information Sciences and Technology Entrepreneurship. In Summer 2021, she participated in the Research for Intelligence and Security Challenges (RISC) Internship at the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS). She worked with Dr. Bensi and her team members to conduct research on a project related to permafrost hazards and infrastructure risk. Hernandez is set to graduate in May 2022 and then plans to obtain her master’s degree in Geospatial Information Sciences at the University of Maryland to further hone in on her analytical and cartography skills.
